Transport Models

Validate

Validate Germany has been regularly updated since 2005 and is expanded and further developed with each new release. It contains traffic flows and volumes for the whole of Germany, making it one of the largest transport models in the world. It is compared with official traffic statistics and calibrated with current count values. Validate has also been available for France since 2019.

With Validate, you have access to all the information you expect from a transport model - without the cost and time involved in creating your own model.

  • traffic volume for freight and passenger traffic
  • for the entire main road network: weekday category, clock time, routes, directions, including 4 weight classes (truck segmentation)

  • 50.000 zones
  • 7 million links
  • Traffic volumes for the entire road network annually- avg. monthly - avg. per day of the week - avg. per hours

Use Cases

Transport Modeling

Setting up your own transport models for local or regional studies often falls short for reasons of cost or time. With Validate, you avoid the time-consuming process of setting up a network. Any desired partial model can be cut out of the model as a basis for local traffic studies and used for traffic-related questions.

It provides the following information:

  • Traffic volumes for freight and private transport for the entire main road network: weekday category, clock time, routes, directions, including 4 weight classes (truck segmentation), truck no-passing zones

The database for this is made up of:

  • HERE navigation network (updated annually)
  • Mobility behavior data from MiD (“Mobility in Germany”)
  • Official structural data (e.g. census)
  • Official count data from BASt (Federal Highway Research Institute)

Location Analysis

If traffic information is combined with locations that are to be examined, new insights can be gained - for example, about market saturation in the regions examined or the geographical competitive structure.

A detailed analysis of the competition is an important part of managing and optimizing your own offering. The traffic flow data provides information on which routes customers have taken to reach you. The available information can be used to identify gaps in the branch network or to make decisions regarding the range of products and services offered by the branch in question.
